Extract a patch into your game folder and overwrite when asked. A freshly downloaded client already contains everything above it.

If something goes wrong
My antivirus or Windows Defender deleted engine.dll

Antivirus software sometimes flags game .dll files as suspicious, especially right after an update. On a client downloaded from the mirrors above this is a false positive.

The fix is to exclude the game folder, then restore the file from quarantine or extract the client again.

Adding the folder to the exclusions

  1. Open Windows Security.
  2. Go to Virus & threat protection.
  3. Click Manage settings.
  4. Scroll to Exclusions, then Add or remove exclusions.
  5. Click Add an exclusion and choose Folder.
  6. Select your Beyond Kalonline folder.
The game closes right after starting

Install DirectX and the Visual C++ Runtime from the box above — a missing runtime ends the client without a message.

If it still closes, extract the client into a folder of its own outside Program Files: Windows blocks writes there, and the game keeps its settings next to the executable.
